Streičs Films for Free — In Liepāja We've Been Watching Them in Cinema Rolls for Years

While the portal 'Filmas.lv' proudly announces a free Streičs film collection, in Liepāja we've known for years that the best films are watched in the museum among the exhibits.
The portal "Filmas.lv" today announced a sensational initiative — free viewing of Jānis Streičs films. Just like when Riga discovers that bread is edible — we in Liepāja have known this for years.
Local cinema enthusiast Valdis Kalējs comments: "Well look, just like in Liepāja Museum — there's history that's actually interesting, and here's cinema that's actually worth watching. The difference is that in the museum you don't get internet problems either." The collection features classic gems, starting with "Limousine Midsummer Color" and ending with "The Mills of Fate." While people in Riga are searching for where to watch these films for free, in Liepāja we have our own "Balta" cinema, where even "Captain Enrico's Watch" looks like a Hollywood blockbuster. Especially when it's windy and freezing outside.
Local cinema expert Aija Bērziņa reveals the secret: "Streičs films are like Liepāja weather — at first they seem gloomy, but in the end you understand that's exactly why they're real." And indeed, when you watch "The Child of Man" in our November fog, you realize that Latvian cinema was created precisely for such days.
The portal's initiative is commendable, but as local film critic Edgars Sproģis says: "The main thing is that they don't start showing ads between films. Because then it's better to go to Liepāja Museum — at least there are no YouTube ads between the exhibits."
