Sunday Will Be Spring-Like Warm — Meteorologists Finally Master the Art of Being Optimistic

Meteorologists have announced that Sunday will pass with calm weather conditions, which in Liepāja means the wind will blow only 15 meters per second instead of the usual 25. The thermometer will climb to +8...+13 degrees, which is so warm that at the Tosele bus stop you'll be able to wait for the bus without a winter coat, with just an autumn coat and two sweaters.

It seems nature has grown tired of being merciless to Liepāja residents. Some cloud will block the sun, but that will only be out of politeness — so Riga residents don't think we're living in paradise here. Meanwhile in the capital, the thermometer will show +10...+12 degrees, which is almost as warm as our basements in winter.

In meteorological observation history, the warmest March 22nd was in 2007, when Skulte reached +19 degrees. That was a time when people still believed global warming was good, and Liepāja port hoped to become a Mediterranean resort. Now we know better — even +13 degrees is enough to pull out shorts and thank God for the warmth.

Local resident Gunārs from the Northern district comments: "Well, if it's +13, then I can start thinking about doing garden work. Maybe I'll even dig up the potatoes from last summer's stores!" Sunday promises to be so warm that even the sea water will seem only slightly icy.
