Remote Learning Students Will Finally Learn to Love Their Homeland via Skype

National defense education will now be available to those studying from home in their pajamas. The Young Guards Center is mastering digital skills.
Great news for all those young people who chose to study from home — now they'll be able to learn national defense education without getting up from the couch. The Young Guards Center finally realized that remote learning students might also need patriotic education, even though they've already proven their independent spirit by choosing to study outside the classroom.
As the Parliament Press Service explains, the changes will ensure equal access for all young people. Well yes, because what could be more equal than some students learning to shoot with real weapons in Karosta, while others watch YouTube videos about how to properly hide from neighboring countries.
Jānis Kalniņš, director of Liepāja 5th Secondary School, comments: "We've long understood here that our students are ready to defend their homeland with or without internet. But in Riga, of course, they think patriotism only comes through a screen."
The most interesting part will be watching how remote learning students practice crisis response. Maybe the homework assignment will be to turn off WiFi for five minutes and survive? Or learn to hide from parents when they ask if you're actually studying or playing games? Now that would be a useful life skills course.
But seriously speaking — 5,151 remote learning students will now be able to learn that love of homeland isn't just a romantic concept. Even if you're studying from a Liepāja apartment with a view of the port where ships come and go, you can still learn how to protect it all. Let's just hope the remote learning version won't require learning to march around the room.
