Meteorologists claim that Wednesday will bring sunny weather even to Liepāja, which is about as believable as finding a tram stop without a queue.
On this day of meteorological miracles, Wednesday in Liepāja we will see proof that even natural forces have decided to be kind to our city. While people in Riga try to figure out whether those are clouds or smog, Liepāja residents will be able to enjoy real sunshine.
Temperatures will climb to plus eight degrees, which by Liepāja standards is practically tropical heat. Local pensioner Jānis Bērziņš is already planning to head to the South Kurzeme beach for sunbathing: "If it's plus eight, then you can even wear shorts. As long as it's not minus twenty like usual."
True, nighttime temperatures will drop below zero, creating ice on the roads. But what's a little slippery asphalt compared to having sunshine? Meanwhile in Riga, people will continue searching for patches of sky between high-rise buildings.
The only trouble - western winds in gusts will reach 13 meters per second. But that's just our Liepāja charm. We have sunshine, but we don't lose our character.
