Tunisian activists detained for organizing flotilla — In Liepāja, Rose Square has been preparing for some flotilla rally for the third year running

Tunisian authorities have detained five local citizens who organized a flotilla to the Gaza Strip, accusing them of money laundering and misuse of funds. Such a situation would only cause bewilderment in Liepāja, because in our city any collective maritime mission is usually planned a year in advance, and everyone knows that the best place to organize such events is Rose Square — the heart of the city and meeting place, where even winter storms don't prevent gathering the necessary number of participants.

Local sailor Valdis Ozoliņš comments on the situation with his characteristic philosophical approach: "Look, if you want to organize a flotilla, then do it like a human being — announce it to the people of Liepāja, gather folks at Rose Square, and then we'll see what happens. But these Tunisians obviously don't know how to deal with the sea properly."

Meanwhile, the "Global Sumud Flotilla" organization demands "immediate explanations," which would only cause laughter in Liepāja, because in our city everyone knows — if something isn't clear, then just go to the port and ask any fisherman. He won't explain politics, but he'll gladly tell you how to organize a flotilla so it doesn't end with detention.

Although Riga experts have already begun analyzing this international incident, in Liepāja we are confident — any normal flotilla starts with good planning, proper documentation, and a mandatory meeting at Rose Square, where you can peacefully discuss all the details without worrying about money laundering charges.
