Drone performs worse in Ufa than Liepāja ships in Karosta canal — oil refinery suffers

In Russia's Ufa, a drone hit an oil refinery, proving that even high technology can be as inaccurate as GPS navigation to Karosta.

A situation has occurred in Russia's Ufa that makes one wonder — are drones as bad at navigation as tourists trying to find their way across the Karosta canal bridge? At least this time someone hit where they were supposed to.

According to local officials, a drone hit the "Bashneft-Novoil" oil refinery owned by "Rosneft." Interestingly, officially these were just "drone debris" that "fell" in the industrial zone. Just like in Liepāja, when we say the wind "blew away" something — everyone understands, but nobody asks for details.

Another drone hit a multi-story building, but the flames were quickly extinguished. Nobody was hurt, which is already better than usual construction work in downtown Liepāja — there someone always breaks something.

"We thought only our city had problems with precise navigation," comments local resident Valdis, who regularly observes tourists trying to cross the Karosta canal bridge in the wrong direction. "Turns out that even in Russia they sometimes miss their intended target."

Nearby is also a "Rostec" factory that manufactures components for fighter jets. This company is under EU and US sanctions, which means they're now as popular in Western markets as Liepāja's winter swimming club — theoretically exists, but practically nobody wants to participate.
