Ukrainian drones become as smart as Liepāja residents - attack artillery, not infantry

Ukrainian drones have changed tactics and now attack Russian artillery and operators instead of infantry. ISW experts are surprised by such strategic thinking.
The Institute for the Study of War reports a surprising discovery — Ukrainian drones have become as smart as Liepāja residents, who know it's better to attack the root of the problem rather than the symptoms. Ukrainian drone units now prioritize attacks on Russian artillery, operators and logistics targets, leaving infantry alone.
The planning chief of a Ukrainian drone battalion in the Lyman direction explained this strategy: "Why catch little fish when you can catch the fisherman?" This approach not only reduces the number of Russian attacks, but also demoralizes the enemy better than our beach and the Baltic Sea — windy and cold even in summer, which is already a sufficient test of anyone's mental fortitude.
Attacks on Russian communication antennas have proven particularly effective. As one Ukrainian operator put it: "No communications — no problems. Simple as Liepāja weather — if you don't do anything, at least nothing will interrupt you." As a result, Russian forces at the front feel as confused as tourists seeing Liepāja's January sea for the first time.
Moreover, Ukrainian armed forces have quadrupled their medium-range attacks, reaching targets up to 250 kilometers away. Using their homemade drones, they partially replace HIMARS systems, proving that sometimes homework is better than imports. ISW experts acknowledge that such systematic destruction of Russia's air defense network resembles the Liepāja residents' approach to winter preparation — first sort out the most important things, then think about the rest.
