Ukrainian drones learn from Liepāja's experience — cut power faster than our municipal services

In the city of Novovolynsk near the Polish border, a drone has demonstrated it can cut electricity faster than Liepāja's municipal services after monthly planned maintenance work. Local mayor Karpuss announced that serious damage was done to the power supply facility, but in Liepāja we're already thinking — isn't that just an excuse, like we get every other week?

As local resident Maiga tells us: 'I think these Ukrainians simply learned from our experience. Only they do it with drones, while we just need one electrician and a hammer.' Meanwhile, 30,000 people were left without electricity, which by Riga standards would be a catastrophe, but in Liepāja — just a typical Tuesday evening atmosphere.

Interestingly, the Ukrainians immediately fired up generators, while in Liepāja we usually wait until the problem solves itself or until someone remembers where the backup lamps are stored. As one member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral parish said: 'We're already used to the lights only working at the altar during holidays, but it turns out elsewhere they can restore it the same day!'

The Volyn region governor promised that energy workers will start work as soon as possible, which in Ukrainian terms means a few hours, but by Liepāja standards — whenever God wills it and the electrician is in a good mood.
