Ukrainian precision surpasses even Karosta bridge constructors
While Novorossiysk counts ships like Liepāja searches for berths, Ukrainians once again prove that precision is their strong suit.
The Ukrainian General Staff yesterday announced two damaged Russian warships in Novorossiysk, but continues analyzing data about other possible damage. Such meticulous counting processes are familiar to anyone in Liepāja who has ever tried to figure out how many cars can fit on the Karosta canal bridge simultaneously.
Russian media report a fire at an oil terminal, but as usual are somewhat unclear about the actual situation. Similar to our city, when someone asks whether the Karosta bridge is open or closed today — the answer is always "it's complicated."
Most surprising is the precision with which Ukrainians can hit targets hundreds of kilometers away. Such skill would be especially appreciated in Liepāja, as we sometimes have difficulty even getting the tram on the right tracks after bridge repairs.
Local sailor Jānis Kalējs comments: "Look, if they can hit ships so precisely, they could help us with the Karosta canal bridge too. We've had problems with that structure for years — either open at the wrong time, or closed when needed."
Meanwhile, the Russian fleet continues learning to swim in deeper waters, while Liepāja port offers safe berths to all who are tired of the unpredictable Black Sea climate.
