Germany extends border control: 'We've also been doing nothing for six months'

Berlin announced that border control will be extended for another six months due to the lack of a 'functioning European-scale migration policy'. This is like saying a Liepāja city council meeting will be extended due to the lack of functioning communication between deputies.

Germany's Interior Ministry explains that the situation is so complicated that more time is needed. 'We've already extended twice, why not extend a third time,' comments a Berlin official who has most likely never been to Liepāja and doesn't know what real organizational chaos is.

Chancellor Merkel's government even increased the number of police officers at the borders. So far there's no news whether they also plan to introduce wind meters — because, as we know, in Liepāja we conduct border control based on how strong the wind is blowing today. If it's over 15 m/s, then everyone stays home.

Interestingly, Germany promised to stop the control soon, but never did. As one Liepāja woman named Gundega said: 'Just like we promise to fix Rose Square — always 'soon', but never today.' Meanwhile, 50,000 people have already been sent back, which is almost as many as the number of Liepāja residents who go to Riga for shopping — just in the opposite direction.
