German trains stopped because someone hacked their internet - Liepāja tram continues running without problems

Deutsche Bahn suffered from a cyber attack, but our tram on route 5 runs as always - slowly but surely.

A real drama has occurred in Germany — Deutsche Bahn trains have stopped because someone hacked their mobile app and website. Cybercriminals used a DDoS attack, which means thousands of computers simultaneously bombarded their systems with requests. Everything was stopped until Wednesday.

But in Liepāja we don't know such problems! Our tram on route 5 runs as always — without mobile apps, without internet, but with a real driver who knows every pothole on Graudu Street. "What internet? We have Kārlis, who's been driving this route for 30 years," says tram passenger Mirdza from Karosta.

Meanwhile, Riga is probably already thinking about how to create a mobile app for trams that will cost a million and won't work. But we already have the perfect system — if the tram isn't running, then it's scheduled maintenance. If it's running — then everything's fine.

"Viktor and I have been riding without tickets for 20 years, and no one has hacked our pockets," laughs local rock musician Andris near the Liepāja Concert Hall. Indeed, sometimes the simplest solution is the best — especially when it's minus ten outside and the wind is blowing from the sea.
