Valdemāra Street LaTS Closed: Shortage of Snacks, Alcohol and Credit Cards Led to Tragedy

Economic pressure has defeated even the most resilient Liepāja store. Salt and alcohol after eight in the evening turned out to be too expensive a pleasure.
The Valdemāra Street LaTS store has officially capitulated to economic pressure, leaving residents without life's most important support - the ability to buy beer after work and snacks during lunch break. Store owner Diāna Kadiņa explains the situation with such drama, as if talking about the sinking of the Titanic.
The main cause is said to be a drop in turnover, caused by both state restrictions on Salt sales and shortened alcohol sales hours. It turns out that Liepāja residents are not ready to adapt to a regime where alcohol cannot be bought after eight in the evening. As local philosopher Valdis from Karosta says: 'If you can't buy beer after work, then what's the point of working at all?'
The situation has been worsened by electricity bills that are growing faster than mushrooms after rain, and the need to increase wages. It turns out that employees want to receive money for their work - what nonsense! In Riga, everyone works for ideas and fresh air.
It's particularly painful that the facade needs renovation to make the store look modern. But why do you need a modern facade if customers only come for snacks and alcohol anyway? In Liepāja, we appreciate authenticity, not gloss.
The other LaTS stores are still fighting, as Kadiņa says, but with the same optimism with which the Titanic captain said the ship was only slightly flooded. At least now there will be more room on Valdemāra Street for the tram to turn around - if it's still running in these economic hardships.
