State Chancellery Creates Contact Point — Liepāja Municipality Has Been Trying to Find Contact with Residents for 20 Years

The State Chancellery proudly announced the creation of a new contact point to help interested parties navigate career opportunities. Director Raivis Kronbergs admits that until now the path has been unclear, but now everything will supposedly be understandable and accessible. In Liepāja, such announcements are received with irony, as our city has been trying for years to establish contact with any administration, but without particular success.

Local pensioner Jānis Kalējs comments: "I've been trying to contact municipal services about a pothole in the road for two years, but they've created so many contact points that nobody knows which one is real. Now they're making new ones in Riga too — there'll be even more chaos."

The State Chancellery talks about a coordinated approach to talent attraction and development, which sounds like fantasy in Liepāja. In our city, talents usually develop on their own — either by fishing at the port or trying to figure out why the tram only goes in two directions. At Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral, they even choose vestments for major holidays more easily than finding the right contact person in city administration.

The new contact point promises to be a bridge between interested parties and career opportunities, but in Liepāja we're already used to the fact that our bridges usually lead to Karosta. There, career opportunities are clear — you're either a soldier, or you become a tour guide who tells stories about soldiers.
