The municipality's requirements for candidates are almost as strict as the entry rules for Karosta Prison. Higher education is required, along with an impeccable reputation, language skills, and the ability to lead a team. The only thing not mentioned is whether candidates must be able to withstand Liepāja's winds and gray skies, which are as inevitable here as taxes.
The salary of 2,500 euros per month before taxes sounds very respectable, especially compared to Riga standards, where for that money you can only buy lunch in Old Town. While in the capital this sum gets you only coffee and a croissant, in Liepāja you can maintain an entire cultural institution.
The commission will be headed by Armands Frīdmanis, and hopefully he'll be faster at making decisions than the current director. Applications are due by April 13th, but knowing Vita's thinking pace, she'll probably make her decision on April 14th.
