Green Thursday Promises to Be Warmer Than Riga's Heart
Meteorologists promise +14 degrees, which in Kurzeme will be practically tropical climate compared to the usual weather conditions.
While everyone in Riga is preparing for a sunny day with +13 degrees, Kurzeme once again shows its superiority — we'll have up to +14! Local meteorologist Jānis Liepiņš comments: "It's almost like summer, just without those unpleasant downpours and heat."
The southwest wind will be so slow and calm that even at Liepāja's ice hall, hockey players will be able to feel the warmth from outside. "Usually our arena is colder than outside in winter, but today it will be the opposite," laughs Marija, who works at the hall. "Hockey players will be able to feel for the first time this year that it's spring."
The anticyclone's influence is weakening, which in meteorological language means — everything will be normal, just prettier. Atmospheric pressure has dropped to 1017–1019 hectopascals, which is as difficult to understand as Liepāja's traffic organization, but the result will be positive.
The only trouble — coastal temperatures won't exceed +5 degrees. But who would want to live on the coast when you can enjoy Liepāja city center's tropical microclimate? Even the sea breeze this time will be so polite that it won't blow off your hat.
