Zelensky Sends Delegation to Florida — Apparently It's Easier to Find a Place Without Crocodiles There Than to Find a Place Without Corruption in Riga

Ukraine's president has sent his representatives to the US, where they will meet with Trump's team among alligators and retirees.
Zelensky has announced that his team is in America and has already met with US representatives. Where exactly — that's a secret, but given that the meetings are taking place in Florida, most likely somewhere between alligators and retirees who still haven't forgotten which century they're living in.
The US is represented by Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Yes, that's right — son-in-law! In America, even family members get involved in diplomacy, while in Latvia we're still arguing about whether you're allowed to bring bread rolls to Liepaja city council meetings.
Zelensky has indicated that the most important thing is to understand to what extent Russia is ready to end the war. That's about as realistic as hoping that some Riga politician would voluntarily give up their official car. But one can dream!
By the way, while world leaders were meeting in Florida's heat, here in Liepaja local residents peacefully strolled through Jurmala Park among the ancient trees. As regular park visitor Janis Liepins says: 'It's so quiet here you can hear the grass growing. And that's much more productive than listening to what politicians are saying.' Indeed, sometimes the best diplomacy is simply taking a walk away from Riga's noise.
