Zemgale municipalities prepare for floods like Liepāja residents prepare for tram strikes - with panic and expensive purchases

Zemgale regions have bought beds, cages and drones to deal with climate change. Liepāja residents watch this theater and rejoice that they have the sea, which will never surprise them.
Zemgale municipalities have decided that climate change must be fought with the same strategy as 'Rīgas satiksme' — buying expensive equipment and hoping something will work.
Within the two-year 'Safe Response' project, the regions have purchased everything — from high-capacity water pumps to cages for transporting pets. Aizkraukle region even bought waterproof suits because, you see, spring floods are as predictable as Rīga city council raising taxes again.
'We now have drones, a boat trailer and even spinal stretchers,' proudly announces a Bauska region representative. 'The only thing we still need is instructions on how to use it all when the real floods start.'
While Zemgale regions train in water rescue, in Liepāja local residents calmly stroll along the sea and listen to the largest organ in the Baltics playing in Holy Trinity Cathedral — its sound can be felt even from the courtyard, which is much more impressive than any emergency warning.
Most surprising is that a 'Cross-border Emergency Response Plan' was presented at Jelgava Palace, which for the first time defines clear cooperation algorithms. Apparently until now, if there were floods next door, everyone just looked out the window and said: 'Well, at least we don't have it as bad as Rīga.'
