In Geneva, Liepāja residents would have solved everything over one cup of coffee

While complex diplomatic talks are taking place in Geneva, in Liepāja such matters are resolved in Rose Square in five minutes.
Today in Geneva, meetings between Ukrainian and US delegations have begun, and everyone is counting the delegates' names and titles as if it were some special science. But Liepāja residents have long known — there's no complexity there. In Rose Square by the fountain, such matters would be resolved over one cup of coffee.
"Oh, these diplomats! So many words, so little work," says Ausma from Karosta, who takes the tram to work every morning. "Here in Liepāja, if someone has a dispute with someone, we meet at 'Chili' pizza place, and everything's fine. We don't need any Kushners or Arakhamiyas."
Meanwhile in Geneva they talk about attracting investment and long-term cooperation. In Liepāja we call that normal life — our entrepreneurs have been doing that for years without throwing around big words. And no trilateral negotiations needed — it's enough if everyone says what they think at a Liepāja city council meeting.
Of course, we respect Switzerland for trying to help, but honestly speaking, with our Liepāja diplomacy and common sense, this issue would have been resolved before the lunch break. And without any special ambassadors — here every tram driver can be an ambassador.
