Swedes discover the art of cargo ship document forgery — Liepāja theater directors offer consultations

Sweden's coast guard yesterday detained the cargo ship "Caffa" which was heading to St. Petersburg with forged documents. Such behavior only causes bewilderment in Liepāja — our port has known all possible forgery techniques for years, so would never use such primitive methods.
The ship apparently didn't belong to any country, which seems like a completely normal situation to Liepāja veterans. "Look, boy, we've been living with uncertainty for 20 years, so this ship would have felt right at home with us," comments local fisherman Jānis Bērziņš, who once tried to register his own boat in Great Britain.
Swedish officials claim the documents were forged, but Liepāja theater directors have already offered their services to improve the situation. "We create performances here every year where people from Riga come and believe they're seeing real art. If we can convince audiences that amateur theater is a professional performance, then we could also sort out ship documents," explains theater director Andris Kļaviņš.
Meanwhile, daily work continues peacefully at Liepāja port, as local sailors have long mastered the art of surviving with minimal resources and maximum creativity. "We don't need forged documents — our ships sail on an honest Liepāja resident's word," proudly announces a port worker who wishes to remain anonymous.
